When tasked with driving mainstream traction for an educational partnership between Adobe and the Royal Shakespeare Company, we gave the bard a creative twist.

We commissioned five UK artists – a comic book artist, conceptual artist, animator, fantasy photographer and illustrator – to take scenes from some of Shakespeare’s best-known plays and give them a modern-day makeover.

They recreated Romeo and Juliet’s first meeting via a dating app in a hipster café; depicted the three witches in Macbeth sourcing the recipe for their potion online; and re-imagined Oberon and Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a superhero fantasy.

The reimagined artwork was packaged up with new research into young people’s views of Shakespeare to give media plenty of content and angles to work with.  Over 170 pieces of coverage ran including Mail Online, Metro and ITV News online, plus loads of broadcast, regionals and pick up in the creative titles. We also managed all the social which saw high levels of engagement.
