Stirling work as McDonald’s Sport heads to Scotland

26 Apr 2019

This week the McDonald’s Sports team launched the McDonald’s & SFA Grassroots Awards.
The team organised Celtic and Scotland star, James Forrest and Hibernian and Scotland Ladies goalkeeper, Jenna Fife to pay a surprise visit to Milton AFC to launch the 2019 McDonald’s and SFA Grassroots Awards.

The Awards recognise and celebrate volunteers and clubs across Scotland who dedicate their spare time to local grassroots football, giving thousands of kids around the country the opportunity to play football.

The activity included a visit to the club of Josephine Rodger, who was named 2018 Volunteer of the Year in Youth Football. As Club Secretary she is responsible for making sure the coaches are in place, the kits are cleaned, every player is registered and fixtures are organised for 23 different teams.

We filmed some content of James and Jenna surprising her in the changing rooms (and as a huge Celtic fan, she definitely had one of the best reactions we’ve ever seen and was completely overwhelmed), before they got stuck into helping out with some of the jobs she has to do on a daily basis. The surprise and visit was all captured for McDonald’s Fun Football channels, and will be going live next week.

Despite a late change in ambassadors (just over 24 hours’ notice) due to injury, the team were not only able to find a fantastic replacement, but were also able to secure some great coverage hitting most of Scotland’s national papers already this morning, with the sell in still continuing.

With key McDonald’s franchisees in attendance the day couldn’t have gone better, not only leaving us with a very happy client, but also making Josephine’s year. A very deserving award winner indeed.
