Is a Big Mac with bacon still a Big Mac?
Sunday’s FA Community Shield at Wembley may have been the official curtain-raiser for the Premiership season but it also served as the setting for this year’s FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Awards.
Now in their ninth year, the awards recognise and celebrate those volunteers, coaches, clubs and leagues throughout England whose passion, dedication and tireless hard work helps ensure the ongoing success of grassroots football in local communities all across the country. Winners collected their awards at a ceremony preceding the football match.
Our sports team were on hand for McDonald’s throughout the day co-ordinating a range of activities around the award winners and also McDonald’s football ambassadors who included Sir Geoff Hurst, Stuart Peace, Dennis Wise, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, Casey Stoney and Coleen Rooney.
Activity on the day included managing photo calls, media interviews, award presentations, meet and greets, media and influencer hosting as well as live tweeting throughout the day from @FunFootballUK to cover the build up to the match and each award winner as they accepted their awards. Over 50 pieces of coverage from both ambassador interviews and post event press release sell in have been secured so far with more to come.
