PR Week Awards finalists revealed
This week, McDonald’s teamed up with Welsh football star Gareth Bale to mark the 100,000th football kit that McDonald’s has given way through their UK wide Accredited Club Kit Scheme.
The McDonald’s Kit Scheme offers every accredited grassroots football club in the UK the opportunity to order a free team kit ahead of the new season, saving the clubs money that can instead be invested into coaching, facilities and reducing the costs passed onto families. The scheme is part of McDonald’s wider 13 year Community Partnership with the four Home Nation Football Associations.
Gareth visited Sully Sports FC in the Vale of Glamorgan for a surprise training session to celebrate the landmark with some priceless reactions from the girls and boys!
Red co-ordinated all PR activity around the visit including hosting media; managing interviews with Gareth across national, broadcast and regional outlets; and organising all content capture for use in print and digital media.
Secured coverage so far includes Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Media Wales, BBC Sport and BT Sport plus content shared across Gareth’s social platforms generated over 220,000 likes on Instagram, 33,000 likes on Facebook and over 720 RTs on Twitter in under 24 hours.
